The project started at the end of 2013 and is scheduled to be complete at the end of 2015. During its development are scheduled following phases.:

WP1: Initial planning and overall management of the project

Dates: October 2013 - November 2013

Objectives: WP1 is the overall project management done by FLC. The management will be set up and conducted by P0 during the entire project lifetime. This phase includes the following objectives:Project briefing and kick-off

•  Establishment of roles and responsibilities of project partners.

•  Establishment of communication mechanisms

•  Setting up of continuous monitoring mechanisms

•   Agreement on project quality procedures

•  Financial monitoring

•  Writing down a document for a common planning and overall project management under quality criteria.


WP2: Identification of the commonest refurbishment processes

Dates: November 2013 - January 2014

Objectives: WP2 aims at identifying the commonest processes of building refurbishment both traditional and energy restoration ones that are keys to develop next phases. Thus, this phase includes the following objectives:

  • Definition of traditional refurbishment procedures: covers, facilities, structural elements, facades and structures
  • Definition of energy restoration procedures: envelope (fences, thermal bridges of facade, covers, etc.), system of ventilation, renewable energy, air conditioning, etc.


WP3: Identification of key competences needs

Dates: February 2014 - May 2014

Objectives: The aim of this phase is to establish the essential key competences that an unskilled worker should have to make basic calculus to carry out properly refurbishment activities. Hence the WP3 includes the following objectives:

  • Identification of basic math skills to make calculations and measurements related to refurbishment activities.
  • Identification of basic science and technology skills necessary to understand the physical and chemical characteristics of the materials applied in a building site.


WP4: Definition of contents in terms of learning outcomes

Dates: June 2014 - October 2014

Objectives: The main aim of this phase is to associate learning outcomes to the competences map defined in previous phase. Learning outcomes are the specific intentions of a programme or module, written in specific terms which describe what a student should know, understand, or be able to do at the end of that programme or module. Thus, this phase includes the following objectives:

  • Definition of the competences map in terms of learning outcomes.
  • Deployment of learning outcomes in specific learning objects.
  • Association of multimedia resources to the learning outcomes.


WP5: AR.KEY System Development

Dates: Novembre 2014 - March 2015

Objectives: This phase aims at developing AR.KEY system which will be based on the results got in previous phases. Thus, this phase includes the following objectives:

  • Definition of the functional design of the system.
  • Production of all necessary elements: software, interface, graphics, application image, etc.
  • Implementation of the system on devices
  • Testing of the system under specific parameters
  • Uploading the system to most famous applications markets


WP6: AR.KEY pilot

Dates: April 2015

Objectives: WP6 aims at putting in practice the system, by carrying out some pilots, in which AR.KEY will be validated from a technical and pedagogical point of view. Hence, a pilot experience will be carried out in each participating country, being their participants unskilled workers from building industry. The objectives of this phase are:

  • Design of pilot experience: objectives, assessment indicators, students’ profile, etc.
  • Training of trainers in the use of the application.
  • Assessment of students’ starting level in order to provide them the most suitable training possible.
  • Training of students using AR.KEY system.


WP7:  Valorization of results and sustainability

Dates: July 2015 - September 2015

Objectives: The main aim of this phase is to validate from a technical and pedagogical point of view, the results obtained, as well as to analyze transfer possibilities to other related sectors. Also, it will be evaluated the project sustainability beyond of its lifetime, analyzing options for the accreditation of key skills acquired by workers after being trained by AR.KEY system.

  • Technical and pedagogical validation of results.
  • Possibilities analysis of transfer of innovation to other related sectors.
  • Project sustainability beyond “official” deadline.
  • Analysis of formal accreditation routes for those that will benefit AR.KEY system.

The leader of this WP will be P4 partner (FORMEDIL) since it usually collaborates with public bodies both at national (Institute for the Development of Vocational Training of Workers – ISFOL) and European level (European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training – CEDEFOP or European Training Foundation – ETF) institutions experts in analyzing accreditation pathways.


WP8: Project divulgation and communication

Dates: October 2015 - September 2015
Objectives: The main objective of this package (transversal to the entire project) is to design a dissemination and exploitation plan of results. The main priorities of this plan are:

1. Identification of exploitable contents

2. Interest of each participant in the dissemination and exploitation of results.

3. Identification of users, businesses, entities or sectors potentially interested in exploiting the results.

4. Enumeration of the dissemination means that can be used.

5. Once the project has been completed, approach in terms of dissemination results. Sustainability plan.

The consortium will commit itself to implement this validated plan, not only during the life of the project but also when the project has been completed. The actions included in the plan ensure the exploitation of the project results and their use and support by all stakeholders


Working methodology

Working groups will set up the key competencies that are at the basis of the main productive processes associated with refurbishment activities.

Once the competencies have been defined and associated procedures selected, it will be time for writing the training units in terms of learning outcomes.

With well defined learning outcomes, the next step will be to develop the training system, applying media resources based on AR to different selected content.

Finally, the entire system will be tested through carrying out a real training pilot experience, which will try to validate the product from a technical and pedagogical point of view.
